Your Fibaro system can have up to 230 Z-Wave devices connected to it. So starting with the basics lets show you how to add the Fibaro devices to your Home Center Lite or Home Center 2!
Adding device

What do I need?

  • A Home Center Lite or Home Center 2
  • Any Fibaro Device/Module

Let's get started

Now there are a few different ways you can do this but we will start with the most common and best for visual feedback.

After you have set up your Home Center (either the HC2 or HCL) you need to be in the devices section on the HC interface and on the left list you will see a tab that says "Add or remove device"

devices and and remove

After you click on this you will come to a page that looks like this:

Add Devices

For this part we are only going to be paying attention to the top section.

Once you are ready to add a device to the system click on the "Add" button and take a look at the list of devices below for their individual steps:

Motion Sensor:

Having the motion sensor in front of you hold onto one side of it with the 2 grey indicator facing you. Hold the left half and turn the right half anti-clockwise until the side pops off.

You will be left with 2 parts. Take the plastic tabs out from the positive battery contact and take note of the button at the top.

Once you have clicked "Add" in the Home Center, triple click that button above the battery and this will wake up the motion sensor; making it glow blue.

Check the Home Center has given feedback for the device being fully added (see bottom of this web page). After that name the device and add it to a room of your choosing.

If the device falls asleep during the inclusion process, triple click its button again to wake it up and continue the process.

Wall Plug:

A similar process to the motion sensor, except the wake up button is on the top of the wall plug and this will need to be plugged into the wall with the power on.

Click "Add" on the HC, wake up the plug with triple click the top button.

Check the Home Center has given feedback for the device being fully added (see bottom of this web page). After that name the device and add it to a room of your choosing.

Door/Window Contact:

This one you need to remember that there are two buttons on this device and if one of them is not pressed down at all times then this will cause the device to not add at all (this is a tamper prevention button basically).

As you can see from the two images, one of the buttons is in the middle with the front casing off and the other button is at the back. Remember to take the plastic tab out from the positive battery contact.

You need to triple click one of these buttons to wake up the device (once the "Add" button in the HC has been clicked). Trying to hold one of these buttons while clicking the other can be tricky so you can either have the front case on and click the back or have the back already installed to a flush wall (so the back button is constantly pressed down) and then click the inner button with a small screwdriver. You will see a blue indicator light come on when you start clicking away.

Check the Home Center has given feedback for the device being fully added (see bottom of this web page). After that name the device and add it to a room of your choosing.

If the device falls asleep during the inclusion process, triple click its button again to wake it up and continue the process.

Flood Sensor:

Start off by opening up the flood sensor in the same sort of way you open a motion sensor and you will see a little black switch at the top left of that you will need to flick down 3 times. Remember to take the plastic tab out from the positive battery contact.

Click "Add" on the HC, wake up the sensor with the triple flick on the switch.

Check the Home Center has given feedback for the device being fully added (see bottom of this web page). After that name the device and add it to a room of your choosing.

If the device falls asleep during the inclusion process, triple click its button again to wake it up and continue the process.

Smoke Sensor:

Another nice and easy one, the triple click button is right on the top of the device. Make sure the back cover is clicked on properly after you take the plastic tab from the battery contact as there is another tamper button that needs to be permanently pressed (just like the door window contact).

Click "Add" on the HC, wake up the sensor with the triple click on top.

SS

Check the Home Center has given feedback for the device being fully added (see bottom of this web page). After that name the device and add it to a room of your choosing.

If the device falls asleep during the inclusion process, triple click its button again to wake it up and continue the process.

Dimmer:

After installing the dimmer module in your light switch you have a few different options to choose from when adding it to the system.

After clicking "Add" on the Home Center you can either:

Triple click the small top right button inside the dimmer module using a small screw driver (careful when doing this as the device is connected to live cables).

IMAG0426

Please note this image is a generic image however the learning button is in the same place with all these modules.

If the dimmer is connected to a push switch then push the switch down and release 3 times alternatively if the dimmer is connected to a toggle switch then change the position of the switch 6 times.

Once the device is added to the system, parameter 14 in the "Advanced" tab will automatically be set to a momentary switch. If you have a toggle switch or even an up/down switch you will need to change the parameter of this and click the blue save button on right right.

Check the Home Center has given feedback for the device being fully added (see bottom of this web page). After that name the device and add it to a room of your choosing.

Single & Dual Relay:

Adding the relay modules has a similar process to the dimmer module.

Install the module and after clicking "Add" on the Home Center you can either:

Triple click the small button inside the relay module using a small screw driver (careful when doing this as the device connected to live cables).

Please note this image is a generic image however the learning button is in the same place with all these modules.

Alternatively if the relay is connected to a toggle switch then change the position of the switch 6 times.

Check the Home Center has given feedback for the device being fully added (see bottom of this web page). After that name the device and add it to a room of your choosing.

RGBW Controller:

The RGBW controller interestingly has an auto-inclusion function where the Home Center will automatically see it once power is being supplied to the device. To do this, wire up the colours you wish and when you are ready click "Add" on the Home Center, then apply power.

The device should then connect to the Home Center automatically without the need of pushing anymore buttons.

If for some reason this didn't work or you do not wish to add the device this way then you can add it using the triple click method.

IMAG0430

Click "Add" on the Home Center triple click the small top right button inside the RGBW controller module using a small screw driver.

Check the Home Center has given feedback for the device being fully added (see bottom of this web page). After that name the device and add it to a room of your choosing.

One last thing you have to do with this controller is give it a type, to start with the controller does not know what you have connected up to it. So, in the options of the device and on the right hand side will be a drop down box asking what you have wired up to the module. Select the relevant type and click the blue save button on the right hand side.

Roller Shutter 2:

The roller shutter 2 has an auto-inclusion function just like the RGBW controller to do this set everything up as much as you can (with the power still disconnected), click the "Add" button on the Home Center and then connect the power supply to the roller shutter.

The device should then connect to the Home Center automatically without the need of pushing anymore buttons.

If for some reason this didn't work or you do not wish to add the device this way then you can add it using the triple click method.

Please note this image is a generic image however the learning button is in the same place with all these modules.

Click "Add" on the Home Center triple click the small top right button inside the roller shutter module using a small screw driver.

Check the Home Center has given feedback for the device being fully added (see bottom of this web page). After that name the device and add it to a room of your choosing.

Universal Sensor:

Once you have wired up the sensor in whichever way you desire, there is only one button you need to triple click.  Click "Add" on the Home Center and then triple click the button in the middle of the sensor

Check the Home Center has given feedback for the device being fully added (see bottom of this web page). After that name the device and add it to a room of your choosing.

What to look out for when a device is being added:

Once you begin adding a device to the home Home Center you will see 2 main things, one is a pop up telling you the configuration progress – it looks like this;

Adding device pop up

After this box has disappeared the other thing you will see is a report at the top the page next to the Home Center logo

 Green line confirming

Look out for green line stating "Device configuration finished", this means the device was successfully added!

Do not click close during this process to any devices unless you want to cancel adding them.
