Setting off Fireworks with Fibaro (Project Boom)

Our tech team love taking their work home with them. You know what they say, practice what you preach and all that…

Well, to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night, we've got a real treat for you. How about using Fibaro to remotely launch your fireworks? Read on to see how!

How does it work?

Electronic launch systems for fireworks are nothing new. In fact, almost all large professional displays are managed using what's professionally know as "electro-pyrotechnic initiators". When it comes to fireworks, all this electronic match consists of is a little piece of wire with a plastic clamp. When you run an electrical current across the wire, it heats up and sets on fire. If you clamp this little unit onto the fuse of a firework, it lights the fuse. Simple stuff so far….

So, if all we need to do is apply an electrical current to one of these magical little clamps, we can very easily utilise the Dual Relay Switch module to make it happen.

But, anyone who's met our tech guys will know that they never do things by halves…

Yep, that's exactly what it says on the box!

This little beauty has the ability to remotely launch up to 8 fireworks simultaneously, and features a hard-wired 'Arm' switch (in classic missile style) to ensure you can't accidentally set something off while wiring it all up.
